Hey everyone! Hope you all are having a great summer, well as great as it can be under the circumstances.
Just wanted to provide an update with what is going on. I know that we are currently in Stage 3 of reopening, this means that the indoor gathering limit has been set to 50 people, unfortunately this limit is far to low for us to be able to have darts. We require to limit to be raised to at least 200 people due to the number of players we have at the Legion and the lack of boards at other bars. I also know that at places like Frosty Johns our dart player numbers would have to be included in their number of people allowed in to eat and we would be taking away from their food business. I have also spoken with the Legion President and the Legion currently has no plans to reopen in Sept. There is also the issue of masks and right now we would all have to wear one to play darts.
In short we will NOT be starting darts in Sept. We will keep an eye on the reopening plan/stage and when the limit is raised to a number where we can all safely play indoors we will begin then. Realistically we may be looking at a start date after Christmas.
We hope you are all staying healthy and safe.
Your NDL Exec.

As you have all probably guessed by now we will be unable to hold our annual banquet. With the social gathering limit still remaining at 5 and the hall closed until at least the end of May it’s just not going to happen. The amount of work and planning that goes in to holding this large event combined with the uncertainty of these unprecedented times we are in just make it virtually impossible. The plan discussed at the emergency captains meeting was if we could not hold a banquet then all monies would remain in the bank. We would offer reduced fees for next season to returning members. We will let you know soon what that amount will be. We will take all remaining funds in the acct and divide that by the # of players in the league to come up with what the reduced fee will be per player. This subsidized fee will be available for returning players only, any new players joining would have to pay the full fee. Please keep in mind that we have paid out 2 tournaments this season and our starting balance will be subtracted from what remains in the acct as this is an approx float we would have had to start next season.
We hope you are all staying healthy and safe and look forward to starting a new season in September.

Due to the ongoing pandemic, the state of emergency and the provincial gathering total being reduced to 5 we have no choice at this time to inform you that there will be NO playoffs. We are doubtful at this time that we will be able to hold a banquet either, but that announcement will formally come at a later date.
We hope you are all well, staying safe and practicing social distancing.

Just to keep you all up to date, Frosty John’s and the Legion are now closed. We will update as things progress over the next little while

The Newcastle Dart League will NOT be playing tomorrow evening. We have decided its best to follow suit with all other leagues and events and take a 3 week break. We will reassess the situation on april 5th. As it stands right now we will play a one night playoff on April 6th. 1st and 2nd place in all 4 divisions will receive a bye. 3rd place in each division will play 6th place, 4th place in each division will play 5th place. All 11 games will be played that evening. The 2 winning teams will advance to the final day to play the top 2 teams in each division. The final day will currently still remain as April 18th.
I will post banquet information as soon as I know what is going on. We will keep you as informed as we can over the next few weeks.
Please note that this was not a decision we came to easily. As an executive, we discussed it in great length before we decided what was best. We only have our members safety in mind.
If any one has any further questions feel free to reach out to any of the executive members.
